Table of Contents

Short Courses in Film

In search for the best film courses, we browsed the top 50 online learning provider websites. We found that FutureLearn is the only provider that offers short courses in film. In our opinion, FutureLearn has great courses for three main reasons. First, their courses will help deepen your understanding of the filmmaking process. For example, in the Explore Filmmaking course, a team of award-winning photographers tell their stories, show examples from their work, and discuss the films that inspire them.

Second, FutureLearn’s courses will teach you how to use your filmmaking skills in real-word scenarios. For example, in the Using Film for Literacy Teaching course, teachers can learn how to deliver blended learning literacy lessons with their students during the COVID-19 pandemic. We think all teachers will benefit from this course.

Third, FutureLearn’s courses will teach you how to be a film critic, which will help you develop the skills you need to edit your own films. For example, in the Victorian Film course, you’ll analyze depictions of the Victorian age on film and learn how film can influence and reinforce certain perspectives.
